Abstract

Enterprise data analytics agents face two structural failures: generic RAG retrieves the wrong asset (Hit@10=19.1%) and delivers no usage knowledge to prevent metric misinterpretation---stemming from four root causes (C1--C4) ranging from semantic gap and entity ambiguity to schema drift and asset-usage gap. We present a two-layer solution deployed in the commercial advertising data warehouse at Xiaohongshu (5,300+ Hive tables, 14 domains). A three-tier dual-purpose knowledge base (179 documents, eight-section annotation template) serves both retrieval and generation, with a closed-loop refresh pipeline maintaining day-level freshness (one yes/no approval, 30s hot-reload). The Graph-Guided Retriever (GGR) uses a 2,859-node knowledge graph as a candidate gate with intent routing to deliver 71.6x token reduction. The Scene-Aware Ranker (SAR) applies 19-class entity recognition and explicit scenario annotations; negative knowledge alone contributes 25 percentage points of Hit@10 gain. On two 100-question benchmarks, Hit@10 rises from 19.1% to 96.6% (+77.5pp) and knowledge coverage from 56% to 77%, at 4.84--5.33s end-to-end latency.

AgenticRAG: Agentic Retrieval for Enterprise Knowledge Bases

We present AgenticRAG, a practical agentic harness for retrieval and analysis over enterprise knowledge bases. Standard RAG pipelines place significant burden of grounding on the search stack, constraining the language model to a fixed candidate set chosen deep in the retrieval process. Our approach reduces this overdependence by layering a lightweight harness on top of existing enterprise search infrastructure, equipping a reasoning LLM with search, find, open, and summarize tools enabling the model to iteratively retrieve information, navigate within documents, and analyze evidence autonomously. On three open benchmarks we observe substantial gains: 49.6%49.6\% recall@1 on BRIGHT (+21.8 pp over the best embedding baseline), 0.96 factuality on WixQA (+13%+13\% relative improvement), and 92%92\% answer correctness on FinanceBench--within 2 pp of oracle access to true evidence. Ablation studies show that the most significant factor is the shift from single-shot retrieval to agentic tool use (5.9×5.9\times improvement), while multi-query search and in-document navigation contribute to both quality and efficiency. We present various design choices in our agentic harness that were informed by pre-production deployments. Our results demonstrate its suitability for real-world enterprise production environments.

VDGR-RAG: Vectors, Directories, Graphs, and Reflection Are All You Need for Unified Reasoning over Hierarchical Enterprise Knowledge

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is essential for enterprise knowledge question answering (QA), particularly in domains with complex product documentation like telecommunications. However, existing RAG approaches largely overlook the holistic integration of diverse retrieval strengths, leading to inaccurate domain routing, poor utilization of hierarchical document structures, and consequently limited reasoning capabilities over enterprise knowledge. To address these limitations, we present VDGR-RAG, which integrates vector retrieval, directory-driven reasoning, graph traversal, and iterative reflection in a unified framework for accurate enterprise knowledge QA. Specifically, VDGR-RAG is an agentic GraphRAG system that first constructs a Hierarchical Heterogeneous Knowledge Graph (H2\text{H}^2KG) from document chunks to preserve both hierarchical directory structures and semantic relationships, and then employs a set of atomic tools for knowledge retrieval that can be freely composed to navigate the H2\text{H}^2KG: (1) a directory-enhanced routing tool that uses table-of-contents (TOC) structures to route user queries to appropriate domain-specific H2\text{H}^2KGs; (2) a multi-route retrieval tool that combines vector search, TOC-based agentic search, and graph search for comprehensive knowledge retrieval; (3) a directory backtracking tool that corrects knowledge localization biases; and (4) a dynamic reflection tool that iteratively plans the next retrieval phase. We conduct extensive experiments on our enterprise product documents across four wireless domains (e.g., energy saving and fault management). Experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms a variety of RAG baselines in terms of both knowledge retrieval recall and QA accuracy.

AvalancheBench: Evaluating Enterprise Data Agents Through Latent World Recovery

We introduce AvalancheBench, a benchmark for evaluating enterprise data agents through \emph{latent world recovery}. AvalancheBench improves on existing benchmarks in three ways. First, it evaluates analytical understanding rather than pipeline completion: systems are scored on whether they recover the segments, drivers, temporal events, and relationships that explain the data, not merely on whether they execute a workflow or produce a plausible report. Second, it provides ground truth for goal-driven analytics by generating observations from a known latent world, enabling partial credit for incomplete but valid recoveries. Third, it exposes how early analytical mistakes propagate into later conclusions: missed segments, merged events, or wrong attributions can lead to systematically wrong recommendations. In this sense, AvalancheBench complements real-data benchmarks by providing a controlled setting for diagnosing whether agents recover the analytical structure behind enterprise data. On a first e-commerce use case, the strongest configuration of a leading coding agent recovers only 26% of the rubric, with failures concentrated in generic customer segmentations and merged temporal events.
