EmoWorld: A Decoupled Affective Field for Controllable Emotional Video Generation

Authors: Bingyuan WangBaistan ZhyldyzbekovKunyu FengZeyu Wang

Abstract

Emotion shapes how viewers interpret a scene, yet existing video generators entangle global atmosphere, affect-bearing semantic cues, and temporal progression within a single text condition. We present EmoWorld, a framework that decouples these factors within a frozen flow-matching video diffusion transformer (Video DiT). A one-time preparation stage extracts layer-specific affect directions and a reusable cue library from geometry-preserving neutral and emotion-edited panoramas. At inference, Visual Atmosphere Steering (VAS) injects atmosphere directions into hidden states, Semantic Affective Steering (SAS) isolates a separately scalable prompt residual for semantic cues, and Temporal Affective Steering (TAS) interpolates endpoint residual fields across denoising and video time. On Wan2.2, VAS improves target-emotion alignment by 19% while reducing a temporal-fluctuation proxy by 48%; SAS improves target-emotion alignment by 37% and increases detected affect-bearing cues by 36%; and TAS improves transition monotonicity by 15% over the strongest baseline. EmoWorld is evaluated across 27 emotion categories in text-to-video and image-to-video settings, demonstrates portability across multiple Video-DiT backbones, and supports camera-conditioned composition without updating generator parameters.

PE-Field 4D: Video Generation Models as Canvas

Diffusion Transformers have recently achieved strong performance in video generation, yet controlling scene geometry under viewpoint changes and camera motion remains challenging. In this work, we revisit the role of positional encoding in video diffusion transformers and show that it provides a useful spatial bias for geometry-aware control. Specifically, if reference tokens are encoded according to their projected locations in the target view, the denoising model is encouraged to retrieve content from position aligned regions of the input video. Building on this observation, we introduce a geometry-aware cross-attention mechanism that enables target video latent tokens to attend to structured context tokens derived from reference images or frames. To establish correspondence between the reference content and the target camera trajectory, we equip the context tokens with a projected positional encoding scheme that combines target-view 2D reprojection with depth-aware disambiguation. At the same time, we preserve the original spatiotemporal positional encoding of the generated video latent, allowing geometric guidance to be injected while maintaining consistency with the video model's native latent structure. The resulting framework provides a simple and effective approach for controllable video generation. It improves spatial controllability in viewpoint-dependent editing tasks, including camera re-trajectory, novel-view video synthesis, and geometry-aware video editing, while preserving the generative prior of the underlying video diffusion model. Compositional Video Generation via Inference-Time Guidance

Text-to-video diffusion models generate realistic videos, but often fail on prompts requiring fine-grained compositional understanding, such as relations between entities, attributes, actions, and motion directions. We hypothesize that these failures need not be addressed by retraining the generator, but can instead be mitigated by steering the denoising process using the model's own internal grounding signals. We propose \textbf{CVG}, an inference-time guidance method for improving compositional faithfulness in frozen text-to-video models. Our key observation is that cross-attention maps already encode how prompt concepts are grounded across space and time. We train a lightweight compositional classifier on these attention features and use its gradients during early denoising steps to steer the latent trajectory toward the desired composition. Built on a frozen VLM backbone, the classifier transfers across semantically related composition labels rather than relying only on narrow category-specific features. CVG improves compositional generation without modifying the model architecture, fine-tuning the generator, or requiring layouts, boxes, or other user-supplied controls. Experiments on compositional text-to-video benchmarks show improved prompt faithfulness while preserving the visual quality of the underlying generator.

Off-Manifold Refinement: Guiding Video Generators with a Frozen World Model

Modern video generators routinely fail at physical dynamics: objects float, trajectories violate gravity, contacts vanish. Standard denoising and flow-matching objectives fit visual data distributions but do not explicitly penalize such physical violations. Existing remedies can improve physical consistency, but typically add substantial inference or training cost. Candidate-selection methods generate and score multiple videos, while gradient-based world-model guidance repeatedly decodes and re-encodes intermediate estimates. Generator-internal refinement adds perturbation and re-denoising loops, whereas post-training requires curated data and additional optimization. We propose Off-Manifold Refinement (OMR), an inference-time method that instead injects world-model feedback directly into a single sampling trajectory. During scheduled middle ODE steps, we augment the generator velocity with the gradient of an adapter-space V-JEPA 2.1 surprise energy. This external correction can move the latent away from the uncorrected sampling trajectory and toward regions ranked as more physically plausible by the frozen predictor, after which the generator continues rendering from the corrected state. A small trained latent-to-embedding adapter keeps the gradient tractable at inference, and both the video generator and the world model remain frozen. On our fixed 400-prompt VideoPhy-2 detailed subset, OMR lifts the joint Semantic-Adherence-and-Physical-Commonsense metric from 47.0% to 52.0% (+5.0pp absolute, +10.6% relative) over the base Wan2.2-T2V-A14B sampler. On a separate fixed 50-prompt efficiency subset, it requires 1.71×1.71 \times the base runtime rather than the multiplicative cost of reward/search alternatives.
