Abstract

Text-to-spatial audio generation, such as text-to-First-Order Ambisonics (FOA), provides a convenient way to create spatial audio for billion-dollar gaming and film industries. However, existing text-to-FOA methods are largely data-driven and may produce audio that violates acoustic relations between source direction and distance. They also separate descriptive and parametric control, forcing users to trade usability for precision. In this paper, we present PhysWave, a physics-guided latent diffusion model for controllable text-to-FOA generation. PhysWave unifies natural-language and trajectory control through a shared waypoint-caption representation, and augments diffusion training with two differentiable acoustic priors: spherical-harmonic direction consistency and inverse-square distance consistency. To support dynamic spatial generation, we further construct a 300K-clip FOA dataset with diverse sound categories and source trajectories. Extensive results show that the proposed priors help PhysWave generate spatially consistent FOA audio while maintaining competitive audio quality. Further analyses show that these physics priors improve spatial consistency during training and can also be used as inference-time guidance for training-free spatial refinement.

Towards Streaming Synchronized Spatial Audio Generation via Autoregressive Diffusion Transformer

Real-time and accurate spatial audio generation is pivotal for delivering an immersive experience. However, existing spatial audio synthesis technologies are often encumbered by a tradeoff between generation quality and high inference latency, as well as difficulty in capturing precise spatial information from multimodal inputs. To address these challenges, we propose SwanSphere, a unified streaming framework for high-fidelity spatial audio generation from panoramic videos and text prompts. SwanSphere mainly makes the following contributions: 1) We introduce a causal autoregressive diffusion transformer architecture that enables streaming high-quality spatial audio generation. 2) We design a Spatial Video-Audio Contrastive (SVAC) learning strategy to align the video encoder with the acoustic domain, and further employ a multi-objective online direct preference optimization (ODPO) scheme, resulting in strong spatial perception and robust multimodal spatial audio synthesis. 3) To alleviate the current scarcity of spatial audio datasets, we also develop an automated annotation pipeline for generating detailed spatial captions. Experimental results demonstrate that SwanSphere achieves superior performance in both video-to-spatial and text-to-spatial audio generation tasks. Demos can be found at: https://swanaigc.github.io.

Spatial Audio Generation and Editing with Executable Plans and Self-Distilling Transfusion

Spatial audio authoring coordinates source decisions with soundfield synthesis. For editing, plans specify what to change and retain, while reference audio supplies further acoustic detail. We present AMBIT, a unified framework for native First-Order Ambisonics (FOA) generation and editing with three connected contributions. First, a shared Transfusion backbone couples autoregressive planning with rectified-flow rendering through executable ScenePlans that specify source content, activity, and 3D trajectories. For editing, the plan describes the full target scene, including retained sources; contrastive features ground the requested change, while full reference latents supply residual acoustic detail for preservation. Second, an FOA-aware continuous VAE combines shared-decoder omnidirectional recovery, asymmetric grouped KL, and spatial covariance matching to preserve content and inter-channel structure. Third, joint Transfusion on-policy self-distillation (OPSD) refines planning on student-generated prefixes and rendering at sampling states reached under student plans, with target-conditioned teachers supervising both modes of the shared student. Evaluations across speech, music, and sound show improved generation content and spatial quality, acoustic fidelity during instruction-guided editing, and unedited-source preservation over the compared baselines. PLACE: Positional Latent Adaptation via Conditioned Embeddings for Binaural Audio Generation

We present PLACE, a method that extends the pretrained any-to-audio model AudioX for binaural generation from arbitrary combinations of text, video, and optional audio prompts. PLACE augments video conditioning with Perception Encoder Core features, aligns text and video representations to derive spatial cues, and applies a conditioning-dependent low-rank transformation to the generated latent. The adapter is supervised via decoded-audio interaural level and time difference objectives. Trained on MRSAudio, PLACE improves most metrics over ViSAGe on FAIR-Play and achieves an improved SpatialCLAP score over SpatialSonic on the BEWO-1M Single Static test split. Listener evaluations favor PLACE for video-to-audio and out-of-distribution text-to-audio generation, demonstrating flexible multimodal control and improved spatial consistency.
