Abstract

3D scene inpainting aims to recover missing or occluded regions in edited 3D scenes, while ensuring geometric and textural consistency. Existing approaches, however, typically require accurately calibrated camera poses, which restricts their applicability in casual, in-the-wild scenarios and introduces additional preprocessing overhead. To overcome this limitation, we present FreeInpaint, a novel feed-forward framework that generates complete and 3D-consistent scenes directly from unposed multi-view images with masked regions. At its core, FreeInpaint extends a 3D foundation model to propagate masked regions from a reference view to other unposed views, bridging 3D reconstruction and scene inpainting while preserving the model's native ability to recover camera poses and scene geometry. Our method addresses two key challenges in adapting feed-forward 3D foundation models to masked inputs. First, masked regions can corrupt cross-view correspondence reasoning, degrading pose estimation and geometry recovery. To address this, we introduce a Learnable Mask Attention mechanism that preserves the spatial anchoring of reliable observations while allowing masked regions to progressively absorb useful context in deeper layers. Second, under severe occlusions, a single forward pass often lacks sufficient appearance evidence for high-fidelity completion. Therefore, we propose a Support Token Refinement strategy, which injects diffusion-generated support evidence as confidence-weighted auxiliary tokens to refine under-observed regions while preserving the original spatial anchor. Extensive experiments across diverse datasets demonstrate that FreeInpaint achieves superior inpainting quality, eliminating the reliance on pre-computed camera poses while keeping a fast inference speed. CoIn: Comprehensive 2D-3D Inpainting with Gaussian Splatting Guidance

3D scene inpainting is essential for reconstructing areas corrupted by occlusions or limited viewpoints. While recent methods leverage Gaussian Splatting (GS) for efficient 3D editing, they often depend on precise multi-view segmentation masks and are inherently constrained to object removal tasks. We propose CoIn, a novel framework that bridges 2D inpainting models and 3DGS through a multi-stage consistency pipeline. Our approach first generates initial inpainted images using a diffusion model, enabling the use of arbitrary-shaped masks and diverse tasks like object insertion. We then introduce Reference Adaptive GS with Feature Attention to reconstruct a coarse 3D scene by adaptively weighing towards a reference view (2D -> 3D). This 3D representation provides geometric guidance to the diffusion process via GS-based Reference Feature Warping, ensuring multi-view consistency (3D -> 2D). Finally, a Texture-Enhancing Discriminator refines the 3D scene to achieve high photometric realism (2D -> 3D). Experiments show that CoIn, effectively leveraging bidirectional information flow, achieves state-of-the-art performance and effectively handles both object removal and object insertion with flexible mask input.

WINGS: Reference-Free Gaussian Splatting Inpainting with 3D-Native Generative Priors

Inpainting 3D Gaussian Splatting scenes, a key challenge in 3D editing, requires generating plausible content within a masked region of 3D space. Prior approaches rely on 2D diffusion models to produce one or several inpainted reference views, making them susceptible to challenges associated with multi-view inconsistency and lengthy optimization times. Departing from these approaches, we introduce a reference-free Gaussian splatting inpainting method operating natively in 3D. Our method leverages the embedding space of a large, pre-trained 3D prior, combined with a structure completion network to feed a generative prior which reconstructs the missing region's geometry and appearance. Performing content generation entirely in 3D, it avoids the need to reconcile inconsistencies of multiple inpainted reference images, and is faster than related 2D-based methods. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method qualitatively and quantitatively, through extensive experiments and a user study. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first Gaussian splatting inpainting method to operate in the learned representation space of a 3D-native generative prior without relying on inpainted reference views.

Generalizable Sparse-View 3D Reconstruction from Unconstrained Images

Reconstructing 3D scenes from sparse, unposed images remains challenging under real-world conditions with varying illumination and transient occlusions. Existing methods rely on scene-specific optimization using appearance embeddings or dynamic masks, which requires extensive per-scene training and fails under sparse views. Moreover, evaluations on limited scenes raise questions about generalization. We present GenWildSplat, a feed-forward framework for sparse-view outdoor reconstruction that requires no per-scene optimization. Given unposed internet images, GenWildSplat predicts depth, camera parameters, and 3D Gaussians in a canonical space using learned geometric priors. An appearance adapter modulates appearance for target lighting conditions, while semantic segmentation handles transient objects. Through curriculum learning on synthetic and real data, GenWildSplat generalizes across diverse illumination and occlusion patterns. Evaluations on PhotoTourism and MegaScenes benchmark demonstrate state-of-the-art feed-forward rendering quality, achieving real-time inference without test-time optimization
