Abstract

We present KinoGen, a framework that synthesizes customizable humanoid loco-manipulation references through kinematically grounded video generation. KinoGen conditions a pretrained video generator on calibrated renders of the target robot and object in a simulated task instance and recovers the reference by fitting the same models to the generated two-view video, so that the reference lies in the robot configuration space by construction without a human body proxy or retargeting. Body, hand, and object priors initialize the reconstruction, and direct optimization against cross-view evidence refines it. Since an edited keyframe is simply another rendered state, a user can prescribe a goal object pose, regenerate the video around the edited keyframe, and obtain a reference that satisfies the pose exactly. Across eight loco-manipulation tasks, KinoGen yields lower penetration and foot skating than video-based baselines and preserves over 90% of annotated contacts, and its customized references satisfy every prescribed target with substantially less penetration than direct interpolation. Tracking policies trained on the synthesized references are deployed on a Unitree G1 humanoid with dexterous hands. Project webpage: https://kinogen-humanoid.github.io/.

Counterfactual Video Generation Enables Scalable Humanoid Loco-Manipulation

Teaching humanoids loco-manipulation skills, such as carrying diverse objects, via visual imitation is a promising path toward generalist robots. However, collecting diverse, high-quality interaction videos, such as clips that clearly show a person's full body and unoccluded interactions with objects, poses a practical barrier to scaling this approach. We propose PRISM, a real-to-sim-to-real framework that overcomes this limitation by amplifying a handful of real videos into a large, diverse training set. PRISM first generates hundreds of diverse "counterfactual" human-object interaction videos via video-to-video (V2V) generation from a few exemplar real videos. Our contact-anchored real-to-sim pipeline then reconstructs both human and object motions, retargeting this imperfect video data into physically plausible trajectories. The intra-class variability across these counterfactual videos lets us train a single policy that generalizes to unseen objects within each category. We demonstrate the full pipeline by deploying this policy on a real robot without any real-world fine-tuning. Using only onboard depth observations, our humanoid picks up, carries, and drops objects, including boxes, barrels, bins, and balls, across novel instances, sizes, and initial configurations.

VLK: Learning Humanoid Loco-Manipulation from Synthetic Interactions in Reconstructed Scenes

Perception-based humanoid loco-manipulation requires connecting egocentric observations and task instructions to whole-body motion. Learning this mapping requires synchronized egocentric images, language commands, and robot-compatible kinematic trajectories, yet no existing data source provides this complete tuple at scale. We address this bottleneck by generating vision-language-kinematics (VLK) supervision synthetically in reconstructed scenes. Our pipeline leverages 3D Gaussian Splatting to reconstruct metric-scale indoor environments, synthesizes navigation and object-interaction trajectories using privileged scene information, and renders paired egocentric observations after the fact. We produce 48,000 paired trajectories with no human intervention and train a VLK policy that predicts short-horizon whole-body kinematic trajectories. A whole-body tracker converts these predictions into actions on the physical humanoid. We evaluate on the physical Unitree G1 performing navigation and single-object transport, demonstrating that synthesized interactions in reconstructed scenes provide effective supervision for sim-to-real perception-based humanoid loco-manipulation. Grounding Generated Video Plans in Simulation Towards Versatile Dexterous Controllers

Generated hand-object interaction (HOI) videos provide a controllable way to propose manipulation motions. Simulation-based HOI tracking can translate such kinematic references into feasible low-level control, but its scalability is limited by the lack of reliable reference motions. We therefore combine generated videos with simulation-based HOI grounding: during training, generated videos provide diverse motion references for learning a multi-object, multi-trajectory HOI tracker, and at deployment, the video model produces motion plans that are executed by the learned tracker. In particular, we propose a method that enables scalable reference generation by HOI reconstruction with minimal manual intervention and successfully grounds more than 1,500 generated videos in simulation, achieving success rates over 25 percentage points higher than those of baselines during simulation-based training. In real-world closed-loop experiments, it achieves diverse grasps, including functional grasps, non-prehensile manipulation, and post-grasp object-pose tracking.
