Auditory Brainstem Response
Auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing assesses the integrity of the auditory nerve system, primarily used to diagnose hearing loss in infants and to study hearing impairment in animal models. Current research focuses on automating ABR analysis using image processing techniques and machine learning algorithms, such as convolutional neural networks and support vector machines, to improve accuracy, speed, and objectivity compared to manual interpretation. These advancements aim to reduce human error and increase the efficiency of hearing assessments, leading to more reliable diagnoses and facilitating large-scale studies of hearing-related genes and diseases.
