Chain of Instruction

Chain-of-instruction (CoI) research focuses on improving large language models' (LLMs) ability to follow complex, multi-step instructions by structuring tasks as sequential sub-tasks. Current research explores CoI's application across diverse domains, including low-resource language translation, image manipulation, and robotic control, often leveraging LLMs to generate or optimize instruction sequences and employing techniques like fine-tuning on specialized datasets. This approach enhances LLMs' performance on complex, unseen tasks and has implications for various fields, from improving cross-lingual communication to automating complex processes in software compilation and robotics.
