Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aims to alleviate mental health issues by modifying maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. Current research heavily focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs) and deep learning, to enhance CBT delivery, including automating aspects of therapy, improving accessibility, and personalizing interventions. This research is driven by the need to address the global shortage of mental health professionals and improve treatment outcomes, with studies exploring the efficacy and ethical implications of AI-assisted CBT across various modalities, including text-based chatbots and even socially assistive robots.
