Gelsight Sensor
GelSight sensors are vision-based tactile sensors that use cameras to capture the deformation of a flexible elastomer, providing high-resolution information about contact geometry and forces. Current research focuses on improving sensor design for enhanced sensitivity, durability, and adaptability to various robotic grippers and manipulation tasks, often employing deep learning models for data processing and force/torque estimation. This technology significantly advances robotic manipulation capabilities, enabling more dexterous and precise interactions with objects in unstructured environments, with applications ranging from teleoperation to autonomous object handling.
