Geo Diverse
Geo-diverse research focuses on developing AI systems that accurately represent and function across diverse geographical and cultural contexts, addressing biases inherent in models trained primarily on data from Western countries. Current efforts concentrate on improving the geographical robustness of object recognition, commonsense reasoning, and vision-language models through techniques like incorporating geo-diverse knowledge into prompts and pre-training models with geographically inclusive datasets. This work is crucial for mitigating biases and ensuring that AI systems are equitable and beneficial for all populations globally, leading to more inclusive and effective applications in various fields.
