Green Learning

Green learning (GL) is an emerging field focused on developing computationally efficient and energy-conscious machine learning models, addressing the environmental concerns associated with traditional deep learning's high energy consumption. Current research emphasizes the development of novel architectures like Green Multigrid Networks and the application of techniques such as low-rank approximations and self-supervised learning to improve accuracy while minimizing computational cost and model size. This approach holds significant promise for deploying AI solutions in resource-constrained environments (like mobile devices) and for reducing the carbon footprint of AI applications, impacting both scientific computing and practical applications across various domains.
