Illuminant Estimation
Illuminant estimation aims to determine the color of the light illuminating a scene from an image, a crucial step in achieving accurate color reproduction and image processing. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of illuminant estimation, particularly in challenging scenarios like high dynamic range (HDR) imaging and scenes with multiple light sources, employing techniques such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and multilayer perceptrons (MLPs), often incorporating novel features derived from multiple exposures or leveraging self-supervised learning. These advancements are significant for improving the quality of digital images and videos, impacting applications ranging from photography and videography to computer vision and augmented reality.
