Personal Space
Personal space, or proxemics, examines the spatial distances individuals maintain in social interactions. Current research focuses on modeling and predicting these preferences, employing techniques like deep learning and active transfer learning to personalize proxemics models for applications such as human-robot interaction, particularly with assistive robots for older adults. Studies also investigate the dynamics of personal space distribution in group settings, using entropy-based models to analyze spatial patterns. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of human behavior and has implications for designing more intuitive and user-friendly interfaces in robotics and other human-computer interaction fields.
