String Wise MIDI Input
String-wise MIDI input, representing musical information at the level of individual strings on instruments like guitars, is a growing area of research in music information retrieval and generation. Current work focuses on developing neural network architectures, particularly transformers and diffusion models, to synthesize realistic instrument sounds and musical pieces from this detailed input, often incorporating techniques like subtractive training and grammar-based representations to improve control and realism. These advancements aim to enhance the expressiveness and accuracy of music generation systems, leading to more nuanced and authentic-sounding computer-generated music.
