Music Notation
Music notation, encompassing the visual representation of musical ideas, is undergoing significant advancements driven by the need for efficient data processing and analysis. Current research focuses on developing robust algorithms and models, such as transformer networks and graph neural networks, to automatically generate and interpret musical notation from various input formats, including MIDI and raw audio, and to improve the accuracy and efficiency of optical music recognition (OMR). These improvements facilitate better data management, analysis, and generation of musical scores, impacting fields ranging from music information retrieval to automated music transcription and composition. The development of standardized notation formats and associated software tools further enhances collaboration and data sharing within the scientific community.
