Vein Recognition
Vein recognition, a biometric authentication method using the unique patterns of blood vessels in fingers, palms, or forearms, aims to develop highly secure and private identification systems. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and robustness of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformer architectures, often addressing challenges like limited training data through techniques such as contrastive learning and data augmentation strategies involving large kernels and adversarial masking. These advancements are significant for enhancing security applications and also hold promise for medical applications, such as improving the efficiency and accuracy of venipuncture procedures through edge AI-based vein detection.
