Part-Level 3D Generation
Overview
Part-level 3D generation studies how to create objects as meaningful components, so their shapes, positions, materials, and sometimes joints can be controlled independently. Systems use diffusion or autoregressive models, often guided by text, images, part layouts, segmentation, retrieval, or procedural constraints; some also model how components fit together or move. Benchmarks such as PartObjaverse and PartNet-Mobility test part geometry, structure, and articulation, while assembly and simulation evaluations check whether generated assets are physically usable. A central challenge is balancing detailed, controllable parts with whole-object coherence, especially when objects have many components or must assemble and articulate reliably.
