Quantum State Preparation
Overview
Quantum state preparation studies how to initialize quantum devices in states needed for algorithms, simulations, sensing, and quantum data processing. Approaches include variational circuits, reinforcement-learning-based gate search, structured amplitude loaders, and physical control methods that exploit a system’s natural dynamics. Methods are tested on tasks such as preparing molecular ground states for VQE, QAOA initialization, image and distribution loading, and state generation on photonic, bosonic, and gate-based hardware. A central challenge is balancing fidelity, circuit depth, and robustness: strategies that work on small systems can become difficult to train or costly at larger scales, and comparisons with strong classical methods remain important.
