Abstract

This paper addresses metric 3D reconstruction of indoor scenes by exploiting their inherent geometric regularities with compact representations. Using planar 3D primitives - a well-suited representation for man-made environments - we introduce PLANA3R, a pose-free framework for metric Planar 3D Reconstruction from unposed two-view images. Our approach employs Vision Transformers to extract a set of sparse planar primitives, estimate relative camera poses, and supervise geometry learning via planar splatting, where gradients are propagated through high-resolution rendered depth and normal maps of primitives. Unlike prior feedforward methods that require 3D plane annotations during training, PLANA3R learns planar 3D structures without explicit plane supervision, enabling scalable training on large-scale stereo datasets using only depth and normal annotations. We validate PLANA3R on multiple indoor-scene datasets with metric supervision and demonstrate strong generalization to out-of-domain indoor environments across diverse tasks under metric evaluation protocols, including 3D surface reconstruction, depth estimation, and relative pose estimation. Furthermore, by formulating with planar 3D representation, our method emerges with the ability for accurate plane segmentation. The project page is available at https://lck666666.github.io/plana3r

Argus: Metric Panoramic 3D Reconstruction for Indoor Scenes

Metric feed-forward 3D reconstruction for panoramic data remains under-explored due to the lack of large-scale panoramic RGB-D training data. We present Realsee3D, a hybrid dataset of 10K indoor scenes (1K real, 9K synthetic) with 299K panoramic viewpoints and precise metric annotations, and Argus, a feed-forward network trained on it for metric panoramic 3D reconstruction. In the sparse unordered capture setting of Realsee3D, a poorly chosen coordinate anchor can cause global pose drift. Argus addresses this with a learned covisibility module that selects the geometrically optimal reference view to anchor the metric world frame. To further improve multi-task learning, we decompose the bidirectional pixel-to-world mapping into interpretable sub-steps with per-step supervision and cross-coordinate joint constraints, reinforcing geometric consistency across prediction branches. On the Realsee3D benchmark, Argus achieves state-of-the-art metric performance in camera pose estimation, depth estimation, and point cloud reconstruction. OTT3R: Multi-View 3D Reconstruction and Fast Dataset Generation at 1% Compute

Feed-forward 3D reconstruction models have achieved impressive performance by scaling model and dataset size, but their cost excludes most research groups and precludes edge deployment. Additionally, generating 3D supervision without sensors still relies on slow, unreliable Structure-from-Motion, as the community lacks a COLMAP-like system for neural 3D pseudo-label generation. We present OTT3R (RGB-Only Tiny Transformer for 3D Reconstruction), a knowledge distillation framework that addresses both problems on a single workstation equipped with 2 GPUs. Distilling π3π^3 (959M parameters) into a 102M-parameter student yields 9.4×\times compression and up to 7×\times faster inference, trained at 1.6% of VGGT's training compute. An integrated pseudo-label pipeline offers a reliable, high-throughput alternative to COLMAP, generating dense per-pixel point maps and SE(3) camera poses for a 667K-image corpus in 3.5 hours on two commodity GPUs and succeeding on every sequence we tested, including those where COLMAP fails. The general student tracks the teacher on in-distribution monocular depth and, zero-shot, outperforms COLMAP on 7-Scenes and on DTU completion, but it does not replace the teacher on out-of-distribution multi-view geometry. The deployable artifact is the domain-specialized student: after specialization at 0.2% compute, it is 4×\times more accurate than COLMAP on 7-Scenes at 980×\times throughput, with near-teacher completion. PanoVGGT: Feed-Forward 3D Reconstruction from Panoramic Imagery

Panoramic imagery offers a full 360° field of view and is increasingly common in consumer devices. However, it introduces non-pinhole distortions that challenge joint pose estimation and 3D reconstruction. Existing feed-forward models, built for perspective cameras, generalize poorly to this setting. We propose PanoVGGT, a permutation-equivariant Transformer framework that jointly predicts camera poses, depth maps, and 3D point clouds from one or multiple panoramas in a single forward pass. The model incorporates spherical-aware positional embeddings and a panorama-specific three-axis SO(3) rotation augmentation, enabling effective geometric reasoning in the spherical domain. To resolve inherent global-frame ambiguity, we further introduce a stochastic anchoring strategy during training. In addition, we contribute PanoCity, a large-scale outdoor panoramic dataset with dense depth and 6-DoF pose annotations. Extensive experiments on PanoCity and standard benchmarks demonstrate that PanoVGGT achieves competitive accuracy, strong robustness, and improved cross-domain generalization. Code and dataset will be released.
