Abstract

We present Ruyi2.5, a multimodal familial model built on the AI Flow framework. Extending Ruyi2's "Train Once, Deploy Many" paradigm to the multimodal domain, Ruyi2.5 constructs a shared-backbone architecture that co-trains models of varying scales within a single unified pipeline, ensuring semantic consistency across all deployment tiers. Built upon Ruyi2.5, Ruyi2.5-Camera model is developed as a privacy-preserving camera service system, which instantiates Ruyi2.5-Camera into a two-stage recognition pipeline: an edge model applies information-bottleneck-guided irreversible feature mapping to de-identify raw frames at the source, while a cloud model performs deep behavior reasoning. To accelerate reinforcement learning fine-tuning, we further propose Binary Prefix Policy Optimization (BPPO), which reduces sample redundancy via binary response selection and focuses gradient updates on response prefixes, achieving a 2 to 3 times training speedup over GRPO. Experiments show Ruyi2.5 matches Qwen3-VL on the general multimodal benchmarks, while Ruyi2.5-Camera substantially outperforms Qwen3-VL on privacy-constrained surveillance tasks.

Xuanwu: Evolving General Multimodal Models into an Industrial-Grade Foundation for Content Ecosystems

In recent years, multimodal large models have continued to improve on general benchmarks. However, in real-world content moderation and adversarial settings, mainstream models still suffer from degraded generalization and catastrophic forgetting because of limited fine-grained visual perception and insufficient modeling of long-tail noise. In this paper, we present Xuanwu VL-2B as a case study of how general multimodal models can be developed into an industrial-grade foundation model for content ecosystems. The model adopts a compact InternViT-300M + MLP + Qwen3 1.7B architecture, balancing fine-grained visual perception, language-semantic alignment, and deployment cost within an approximately 2B-parameter budget. To balance business specialization with the retention of general capabilities, we developed a data iteration and curation mechanism and trained the model through a progressive three-stage pipeline: pre-training, mid-training, and post-training. Ablation studies and offline business evaluations show that Xuanwu VL-2B achieves an average score of 67.90 across seven OpenCompass multimodal metrics (vs. 64.27 for InternVL 3.5 2B), an average recall of 94.38% over seven independent business moderation tasks, and a weighted overall recall of 82.82% on policy-violating text in challenging adversarial OCR scenarios, outperforming Gemini-2.5-Pro (76.72%). These results show that, under a limited parameter budget, Xuanwu VL-2B achieves a practical balance among business alignment, visual perception, general capability retention, and deployment cost.

Relax: An Asynchronous Reinforcement Learning Engine for Omni-Modal Post-Training at Scale

Reinforcement learning (RL) post-training has proven effective at unlocking reasoning, self-reflection, and tool-use capabilities in large language models. As models extend to omni-modal inputs and agentic multi-turn workflows, RL training systems face three interdependent challenges: heterogeneous data flows, operational robustness at scale, and the staleness -- throughput tradeoff. We present Relax (Reinforcement Engine Leveraging Agentic X-modality), an open-source RL training engine that addresses these challenges through three co-designed architectural layers. First, an omni-native architecture builds multimodal support into the full stack -- from data preprocessing and modality-aware parallelism to inference generation -- rather than retrofitting it onto a text-centric pipeline. Second, each RL role runs as an independent, fault-isolated service that can be scaled, recovered, and upgraded without global coordination. Third, service-level decoupling enables asynchronous training via the TransferQueue data bus, where a single staleness parameter smoothly interpolates among on-policy, near-on-policy, and fully asynchronous execution. Relax achieves a 1.20×\times end-to-end speedup over veRL on Qwen3-4B on-policy training. Its fully async mode delivers a 1.76×\times speedup over colocate on Qwen3-4B and a 2.00×\times speedup on Qwen3-Omni-30B, while all modes converge to the same reward level. Relax supports R3 (Rollout Routing Replay)~\cite{ma2025r3} for MoE models with only 1.9% overhead, compared to 32% degradation in veRL under the same configuration. It further demonstrates stable omni-modal RL convergence on Qwen3-Omni across image, text, and audio, sustaining over 2{,}000 steps on video without degradation. Ruyi2 Technical Report

Large Language Models (LLMs) face significant challenges regarding deployment costs and latency, necessitating adaptive computing strategies. Building upon the AI Flow framework, we introduce Ruyi2 as an evolution of our adaptive model series designed for efficient variable-depth computation. While early-exit architectures offer a viable efficiency-performance balance, the Ruyi model and existing methods often struggle with optimization complexity and compatibility with large-scale distributed training. To bridge this gap, Ruyi2 introduces a stable "Familial Model" based on Megatron-LM. By using 3D parallel training, it achieves a 2-3 times speedup over Ruyi, while performing comparably to same-sized Qwen3 models. These results confirm that family-based parameter sharing is a highly effective strategy, establishing a new "Train Once, Deploy Many" paradigm and providing a key reference for balancing architectural efficiency with high-performance capabilities.
