Abstract

In video diffusion transformers, visual patch tokens maintain explicit correspondence to space and time. We hypothesize that their channel dimension can serve as a semantic control space, which we call Visual Dial Space V+. In this space, additive directions can be broadcast to the token stream to control appearance or motion attributes, enabling slider-style edits such as making a generated person look older or run faster. To verify the hypothesis, we present TokenDial, a framework for learning attribute directions in the proposed V+ space. TokenDial keeps the pretrained video generator frozen and optimizes only additive directions. Rather than requiring paired edited videos, TokenDial supervises each direction through its induced effect on generated videos: the edited video should move along the desired attribute while the remaining content stays stable. The learned directions become reusable visual dials that support continuous appearance and motion control, explicit spatiotemporal localization, composition, and reuse across prompts, resolutions, and video lengths. Experiments and human studies show that TokenDial achieves stronger slider controllability and better content preservation than prior video editing and slider-based methods.

Making Time Editable in Video Diffusion Transformers

Modern Diffusion Transformers for video generation provide limited control over the progression of time and the editing of temporal dynamics. We propose a temporal-control methodology that extends a pretrained DiT with explicit time editing, allowing control over motion speed and temporal structure without redesigning the backbone. Its core implementation augments the pretrained model with a lightweight temporal module, preserving the original generative prior while expanding its controllable dynamic range.

PE-Field 4D: Video Generation Models as Canvas

Diffusion Transformers have recently achieved strong performance in video generation, yet controlling scene geometry under viewpoint changes and camera motion remains challenging. In this work, we revisit the role of positional encoding in video diffusion transformers and show that it provides a useful spatial bias for geometry-aware control. Specifically, if reference tokens are encoded according to their projected locations in the target view, the denoising model is encouraged to retrieve content from position aligned regions of the input video. Building on this observation, we introduce a geometry-aware cross-attention mechanism that enables target video latent tokens to attend to structured context tokens derived from reference images or frames. To establish correspondence between the reference content and the target camera trajectory, we equip the context tokens with a projected positional encoding scheme that combines target-view 2D reprojection with depth-aware disambiguation. At the same time, we preserve the original spatiotemporal positional encoding of the generated video latent, allowing geometric guidance to be injected while maintaining consistency with the video model's native latent structure. The resulting framework provides a simple and effective approach for controllable video generation. It improves spatial controllability in viewpoint-dependent editing tasks, including camera re-trajectory, novel-view video synthesis, and geometry-aware video editing, while preserving the generative prior of the underlying video diffusion model. ViFeEdit: A Video-Free Tuner of Your Video Diffusion Transformer

Diffusion Transformers (DiTs) have demonstrated remarkable scalability and quality in image and video generation, prompting growing interest in extending them to controllable generation and editing tasks. However, compared to the image counterparts, progress in video control and editing remains limited, mainly due to the scarcity of paired video data and the high computational cost of training video diffusion models. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a video-free tuning framework termed ViFeEdit for video diffusion transformers. Without requiring any forms of video training data, ViFeEdit achieves versatile video generation and editing, adapted solely with 2D images. At the core of our approach is an architectural reparameterization that decouples spatial independence from the full 3D attention in modern video diffusion transformers, which enables visually faithful editing while maintaining temporal consistency with only minimal additional parameters. Moreover, this design operates in a dual-path pipeline with separate timestep embeddings for noise scheduling, exhibiting strong adaptability to diverse conditioning signals. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method delivers promising results of controllable video generation and editing with only minimal training on 2D image data.
