This letter addresses the constrained attitude control problem for rigid bodies directly on the special orthogonal group SO(3), avoiding singularities associated with parameterizations such as Euler angles. We propose a novel Periodic Event-Triggered Explicit Reference Governor (PET-ERG) that enforces input saturation and geometric pointing constraints without relying on online optimization. A key feature is a periodic event-triggered supervisory update: the auxiliary reference is updated only at sampled instants when a robust safety condition is met, thereby avoiding continuous-time reference updates and enabling a rigorous stability analysis of the cascade system on the manifold. Through this structured approach, we rigorously establish the asymptotic stability and exponential convergence of the closed-loop system for almost all initial configurations. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed control architecture and demonstrate constraint satisfaction and convergence properties.

This letter presents a constrained control framework that integrates Explicit Reference Governors (ERG) with Control Barrier Functions (CBF) to ensure recursive feasibility without online optimization. We formulate the reference update as a virtual control input for an augmented system, governed by a smooth barrier function constructed from the softmin aggregation of Dynamic Safety Margins (DSMs). Unlike standard CBF formulations, the proposed method guarantees the feasibility of safety constraints by design, exploiting the forward invariance properties of the underlying Lyapunov level sets. This allows for the derivation of an explicit, closed-form reference update law that strictly enforces safety while minimizing deviation from a nominal reference trajectory. Theoretical results confirm asymptotic convergence, and numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed method achieves performance comparable to traditional ERG frameworks.

This paper develops a singularity-free guiding vector field (SF-GVF) for path following on the special orthogonal group SO(3). First, we lift the Euclidean SF-GVF construction to SO(3), integrating the augmented-state approach with the intrinsic Lie-group geometry and obtaining a closed-form geometric guidance law whose integral curves converge to a designer-specified attitude path. The field is defined on a dense open subset of SO(3), excluding only the measure-zero antipodal set - a manifestation of the topological obstruction to continuous global stabilization on SO(3). The construction requires no per-step optimization and produces a control input intrinsically in so(3) as body angular rates. Second, we formalize the progression behavior along the path as a designer-supplied function ν(ξ), promoting the parametric speed from an implicitly resolved degree of freedom to a first-class design specification. In contrast to the Euclidean condition v = 0, which excludes vehicles with minimum-speed constraints, the corresponding condition ω= 0 on SO(3) is physically admissible for most platforms with active attitude control, making the progression behavior a design freedom structurally available on SO(3) but absent in the Euclidean setting. The framework's structural results are established under a bi-invariant Riemannian metric and hold uniformly across choices of path, progression, and Lyapunov gain. The framework is illustrated in simulation on self-intersecting paths under both constant and point-convergence progression behaviors.

Safe navigation in dynamic environments is challenging when system dynamics are unknown and actuator inputs are limited. Existing methods either rely on accurate models, require online optimization, or do not explicitly account for input constraints. This paper presents a real-time control framework for unknown Euler-Lagrange systems that guarantees finite-time reach-avoid-stay (FT-RAS) specifications while respecting actuator limits. We extend the spatiotemporal tube (STT) framework by incorporating input constraints into the controller design and derive offline-verifiable feasibility conditions that relate the available control authority to the tube design and uncertainty bounds. The resulting framework is approximation-free and computationally efficient, making it suitable for real-time implementation. The proposed approach is validated through simulations on a mobile robot, a quadrotor, and a spacecraft, together with hardware experiments on a mobile robot, demonstrating safe navigation while satisfying actuator constraints.
