Abstract

This paper addresses the challenge of one-shot novel view and pose human image synthesis. The existing methods transfer the reference human image to a target pose using a set of 2D pose keypoints or synthesize human images based on generalizable human NeRF which uses human model priors to extract point-wise features. However, pose transfer based methods can not handle complex human pose using ambiguous 2D pose as the condition, while generalizable human NeRFs may be inaccurate to recover occluded/invisiable human parts without extracted reliable features. To solve these problems, we propose a novel approach for novel view and pose synthesis from a singe human image via conditional denoising diffusion model. Our diffusion model divides the novel view and pose synthesis problem into a sequence of conditional denoising steps. Specifically, to generate humans with complex and arbitrary poses, we introduce 3D human priors, i.e., 3D normal map and color prompt, as geometry and color conditions into the generation process. By transferring the reference human into the target human with a series of diffusion steps, our diffusion model enables high-quality synthesis including the occluded/invisible parts. Further, we propose a self-reconstruction based customized refinement to enhance fine details when tested on novel persons.Experimental results on different public datasets demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms previous methods and also shows better generalization ability across datasets. The code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/Yankeegsj/3DPGDM.

PSHuman: Photorealistic Single-image 3D Human Reconstruction using Cross-Scale Multiview Diffusion and Explicit Remeshing

Detailed and photorealistic 3D human modeling is essential for various applications and has seen tremendous progress. However, full-body reconstruction from a monocular RGB image remains challenging due to the ill-posed nature of the problem and sophisticated clothing topology with self-occlusions. In this paper, we propose PSHuman, a novel framework that explicitly reconstructs human meshes utilizing priors from the multiview diffusion model. It is found that directly applying multiview diffusion on single-view human images leads to severe geometric distortions, especially on generated faces. To address it, we propose a cross-scale diffusion that models the joint probability distribution of global full-body shape and local facial characteristics, enabling detailed and identity-preserved novel-view generation without any geometric distortion. Moreover, to enhance cross-view body shape consistency of varied human poses, we condition the generative model on parametric models like SMPL-X, which provide body priors and prevent unnatural views inconsistent with human anatomy. Leveraging the generated multi-view normal and color images, we present SMPLX-initialized explicit human carving to recover realistic textured human meshes efficiently. Extensive experimental results and quantitative evaluations on CAPE and THuman2.1 datasets demonstrate PSHumans superiority in geometry details, texture fidelity, and generalization capability.

DisPOSE: Projected Polystochastic Diffusion for Self-Supervised Multi-View 3D Human Pose Estimation

Recovering 3D human poses for multiple individuals from different camera views is a fundamental bottleneck for analyzing interacting behaviors. Existing self-supervised approaches leverage synthetic catalogues of 3D poses; however, this leads to poor generalization in real-world scenarios due to distribution shifts. We therefore introduce DisPOSE, a self-supervised framework that approximates the inherently discrete multi-view person-assignment problem as a generative diffusion process over the space of polystochastic tensors. By employing differentiable Sinkhorn projections during denoising, our model learns to guide solutions toward valid and feasible assignments based on 2D image priors. The complete 3D skeletons of localized individuals are then regressed using a Hypergraph-Convolutional Decoder that explicitly models relational structures and articulated joints across multiple views. The proposed approach outperforms current state-of-the-art self-supervised methods on standard datasets and demonstrates strong performance on a newly proposed benchmark featuring highly occluded scenes from surgical operating rooms. Our diffusion-based localization demonstrates high label efficiency, retaining 99% of its performance with only 10% of the pseudo-labels. Notably, disentangling the assignment and root regression components while maintaining differentiability makes DisPOSE nearly agnostic to different camera arrangements.

PoseDreamer: Scalable and Photorealistic Human Data Generation Pipeline with Diffusion Models

Acquiring labeled datasets for 3D human mesh estimation is challenging due to depth ambiguities and the inherent difficulty of annotating 3D geometry from monocular images. Existing datasets are either real, with manually annotated 3D geometry and limited scale, or synthetic, rendered from 3D engines that provide precise labels but suffer from limited photorealism, low diversity, and high production costs. In this work, we explore a third path: generated data. We introduce PoseDreamer, a novel pipeline that leverages diffusion models to generate large-scale synthetic datasets with 3D mesh annotations. Our approach combines controllable image generation with Direct Preference Optimization for control alignment, curriculum-based hard sample mining, and multi-stage quality filtering. Together, these components naturally maintain correspondence between 3D labels and generated images, while prioritizing challenging samples to maximize dataset utility. Using PoseDreamer, we generate more than 500,000 high-quality synthetic samples, achieving a 76% improvement in image-quality metrics compared to rendering-based datasets. Models trained on PoseDreamer achieve performance comparable to or superior to those trained on real-world and traditional synthetic datasets. In addition, combining PoseDreamer with synthetic datasets results in better performance than combining real-world and synthetic datasets, demonstrating the complementary nature of our dataset. We will release the full dataset and generation code.
