Abstract
Local editing of 3D objects remains a long-standing challenge. When interacting with 3D content, humans naturally tend to specify a coarse region of interest for modification rather than defining precise editing boundaries. However, previous methods rely on fully edited 2D images, precise 3D masks, or redundant pipelines, which present a gap. To bridge this gap, we propose EditVerse3D, a novel 3D editing framework that enables high-quality object editing under such coarse guidance. Our approach takes as input a 3D object to be edited, a coarse 3D bounding box indicating the target region, and a reference 2D image describing the desired modification. It produces a coherent, high-fidelity edited 3D object. To facilitate this editing, we introduce a novel region-aware adaptive loss that emphasizes hard-to-learn regions and balances the objective between target and preserved areas. Complementing our loss function, we enhance model robustness and generalization through targeted data augmentations, such as training with scaled 3D masks and filtering out unrealistic editing pairs. We construct a large-scale 3D editing dataset derived from parts information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that EditVerse3D achieves superior visual quality and quantitative performance compared to existing 3D editing approaches. Controllable local editing of 3D assets requires precise target localization and appropriate visual guidance. However, existing methods lack a simple yet accurate way to obtain 3D masks and struggle to achieve the desired edit while faithfully preserving the structure and appearance of non-target regions. To address these challenges, we present EditFlow3D, a training-free framework for local 3D editing. Given a source asset and an edit instruction, a VLM-driven workflow interprets the editing intent and automatically constructs a visual guidance image and a refined 3D editing mask, enabling localized editing in the native representation space of a pretrained 3D generative model. Specifically, mask-guided differential flow focuses the edit on the target region, while step-wise trajectory preservation maintains consistency between non-target regions and the source asset without directly replacing intermediate features. Since the existing Edit3D-Bench covers only a limited range of local editing categories, we further introduce EditFlow-Bench as a complementary benchmark encompassing a broader variety of structural and appearance edits, and evaluate EditFlow3D on both benchmarks. Quantitative results, qualitative comparisons, and a user study demonstrate that EditFlow3D achieves more accurate target-region editing and better preserves non-target regions than existing 3D editing methods.
Existing 3D scene editing methods typically rely on per-scene optimization over explicit 3D representations or cascaded edit-and-reconstruct pipelines, resulting in high test-time cost, limited 3D awareness, and structural inconsistencies. To couple appearance synthesis and geometry prediction during editing, we build on a unified RGB-geometry reconstruction-generation latent space and adapt it to feed-forward 3D scene editing. The resulting framework, \textbf{JointEdit3D}, performs asymmetric latent inpainting by observing only a single edited RGB reference latent and generating the remaining RGB views and edited geometry latent under source-scene anchoring. JointEdit3D introduces a dedicated SceneAnchor Branch to inject source-scene structure without forcing direct copying, and adopts edit/background-aware losses to balance edited-region fidelity with unedited-content preservation. To address the lack of paired resources for standardized 3D scene editing evaluation, we introduce SceneEdit3D-15K, a dataset with 15K paired editing samples and renderer-provided 3D annotations, together with SceneEdit3D-Bench, a curated 100-sample benchmark. Experiments show that JointEdit3D improves edited-region quality and 3D structural completeness over prior baselines while maintaining competitive background preservation.
Leveraging the priors of 2D diffusion models for 3D editing has emerged as a promising paradigm. However, multi-view consistency remains challenging in edited results, and the extreme scarcity of paired 3D-consistent editing data makes supervised fine-tuning (SFT) impractical, despite its effectiveness for editing tasks. In this paper, we observe that, while generating multi-view consistent 3D content is highly challenging, verifying 3D consistency is tractable, naturally positioning reinforcement learning (RL) as a feasible solution. Motivated by this, we propose RL3DEdit, a single-pass framework driven by RL optimization with novel rewards derived from the 3D foundation model, VGGT. Specifically, we leverage VGGT's robust priors learned from massive real-world data, feed the edited images into it, and utilize the output confidence maps and pose estimation errors as reward signals, effectively anchoring the 2D editing priors onto a 3D-consistent manifold via RL. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RL3DEdit achieves stable multi-view consistency and outperforms state-of-the-art methods in editing quality with high efficiency. To promote the development of 3D editing, we will release the code and model.
