EvBS: Event-guided Blur Synthesis for Domain-adaptive Motion Deblurring

Abstract

Motion deblurring has achieved remarkable progress with deep learning, yet pre-trained deblurring models often suffer from performance degradation in real-world scenarios due to the domain shift between training and testing distributions. To remedy this, we propose EvBS, an event-guided blur synthesis framework that generates diverse training pairs for calibrating pre-trained models to the target domain. While existing methods are constrained by the inherent entanglement between motion and visual content, our method leverages the high temporal resolution of event cameras to effectively decouple them. This enables us to utilize not only the intrinsic motion that is inherent to the given content but also extrinsic motion transferred from different sources within the target domain, thereby facilitating effective adaptation via fine-tuning. Specifically, EvBS comprises two complementary strategies: Intrinsic-Blur Synthesis, which blurs sharp contents with their own motion patterns, and Extrinsic-Blur Synthesis, which transfers motion from blurry patches to distinct sharp content. This approach generates a diverse set of training pairs that break the inherent constraints of naturally coupled motion and content, resulting in enhanced domain-adaptive deblurring performance. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmarks demonstrate that EvBS effectively enhances the robustness of existing deblurring models on unseen testing datasets.

RealVDeblur: One-Step Diffusion for Generalizable Real-World Video Deblurring

Real-world video deblurring remains challenging due to diverse motion patterns, complex degradations, and the scarcity of realistic training data, yet robust restoration is critical for downstream pipelines such as mobile imaging and 3D reconstruction. This work presents \textbf{RealVDeblur}, an efficient generative framework designed to improve in-the-wild robustness under diverse real capture conditions. First, a large-scale, physically grounded blur synthesis pipeline is constructed from scene-level 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) assets and high-frame-rate videos, providing realistic training data covering both camera-induced and object-motion blur. Second, a video diffusion prior is leveraged for restoration; to better accommodate frame-dependent blur variations, temporal compression in the VAE is disabled and a frame-wise encoding scheme is adopted. For practical deployment on long videos, multi-step diffusion sampling is distilled into an efficient one-step generator, and a training-free Temporal Window Mask stabilizes inference beyond the training horizon with constant memory usage. Extensive experiments on diverse real-world benchmarks demonstrate strong perceptual quality, semantic fidelity, and temporal consistency on unseen videos, as well as improved robustness in downstream 3D reconstruction under severe motion blur. Restoration-Aligned Generative Flow Models for Blind Motion Deblurring

Generative flow models offer powerful priors learned from large-scale natural images, but directly adapting them to restoration tasks such as motion deblurring causes severe fidelity degradation, as their training objective is inherently misaligned with restoration. We present DeblurFlow, a framework that resolves this misalignment by reformulating the flow trajectory itself: we replace the noise endpoint with the blur observation, which makes the underlying vector field coincide with the residual error between blur and clean images. Under this formulation, the standard flow matching loss naturally takes the form of a residual loss, allowing pretrained flow models to be optimized under restoration-aligned objectives via LoRA adaptation. This formulation further enables a dual-expert sampling strategy: a fidelity expert provides a high-fidelity initialization, e.g., PSNR 33.69 dB, and DeblurFlow enhances perceptual quality with only a marginal fidelity reduction to 33.05 dB, whereas directly applying a generative model on top of a fidelity expert decreases PSNR to 27.60 dB. To make this practical, we further introduce r-space, a latent space tailored for residual decoding rather than image reconstruction, which reduces encoder-decoder cost by up to 9×\timesover standard VAE latents. Extensive experiments on GoPro, HIDE, RealBlur, and RWBI demonstrate that DeblurFlow achieves strong restoration fidelity and perceptual realism, while remaining computationally practical.

AsyncEvGS: Asynchronous Event-Assisted Gaussian Splatting for Handheld Motion-Blurred Scenes

3D reconstruction methods such as 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) and Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) achieve impressive photorealism but fail when input images suffer from severe motion blur. While event cameras provide high-temporal-resolution motion cues, existing event-assisted approaches rely on low-resolution sensors and strict synchronization, limiting their practicality for handheld 3D capture on common devices, such as smartphones. We introduce a flexible, high-resolution asynchronous RGB-Event dual-camera system and a corresponding reconstruction framework. Our approach first reconstructs sharp images from the event data and then employs a cross-domain pose estimation module based on the Visual Geometry Transformer (VGGT) to obtain robust initialization for 3DGS. During optimization, we employ a structure-driven event loss and view-specific consistency regularizers to mitigate the ill-posed behavior of traditional event losses and deblurring losses, ensuring both stable and high-fidelity reconstruction. We further contribute AsyncEv-Deblur, a new high-resolution RGB-Event dataset captured with our asynchronous system. Experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on both our challenging dataset and existing benchmarks, substantially improving reconstruction robustness under severe motion blur.
