Abstract

Single-frame surround-view reconstruction faces severe geometric instability and rendering artifacts due to minimal inter-camera overlap. While existing methods rely on complex decoders or auxiliary cues, they remain bottlenecked by the weak geometric capacity of upstream features. We argue that leveraging pretrained visual geometry priors strengthens upstream representations and alleviates the geometric ambiguity in sparse surround views. To this end, we propose VGGD, a visual geometry foundation-aware 3D Gaussian Splatting framework for feed-forward surround-view driving reconstruction, which shifts geometric modeling to the frontend and adapts foundation priors to the driving camera setting. First, VGGD leverages VGGT to provide transferable multi-view geometric prior tokens. Next, we introduce a Dual-Path Neck to decouple geometry-consistent and appearance-aware representations, improving appearance completion in weakly observed regions. We further apply Scale Warmup to stabilize early geometry learning and suppress scale drift under ego-pose changes. Finally, we use a hybrid pixel--volume Gaussian decoder to produce a renderable 3D Gaussian scene for novel-view synthesis. Experiments on the nuScenes single-frame benchmark show that VGGD achieves the best overall rendering quality among the compared methods and improves relative geometric consistency.

\text{VG}^2GT: Voxel-Gaussian Splatting Visual Geometry Grounded Transformer

Gaussian splatting has shown strong potential for 3D reconstruction and novel view synthesis. However, most existing methods require accurate camera parameters and per-scene optimization, while feed-forward methods with pixel-aligned Gaussian primitives often suffer from artifacts and non-uniform primitives. In this paper, we propose VG2\text{VG}^2GT, a Voxel-Gaussian Splatting Visual Geometry-Grounded Transformer. VG2\text{VG}^2GT leverages a frozen pretrained visual foundation model (VFM), incorporates a multi-scale differentiable voxel module to enhance geometric understanding, and directly splits and regresses Gaussian primitive parameters from voxel features. During training, depth maps are supervised through stochastic solid volume rendering, enabling geometrically accurate Gaussian scene reconstruction while keeping the visual foundation model fully frozen. This design enables VG2\text{VG}^2GT to be seamlessly plugged into any patch-feature-based VFM, while substantially reducing the required training cost. VG2\text{VG}^2GT outperforms current state-of-the-art methods on widely used DTU, Replica, TAT, and ScanNet datasets.

Confidence matters: Leveraging Multi-view Geometric Priors for GS-based Reconstruction

3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) has emerged as a widely-used tool for novel view synthesis, offering real-time rendering in a sparse representation. However, the method's reliance on structure-from-motion initialization and photometric optimization can lead to suboptimal geometric reconstruction, particularly for objects with high specularity. In this work, we investigate the integration of geometric priors, in the form of predicted normal and depth maps, into the 3DGS framework to improve the reconstruction quality. We analyze the effect of incorporating these priors into GS-based methods and our evaluation reveals that multi-view predictions, as they are done by the recent visual geometry grounded transformer (VGGT), outperform single-view alternatives. A major factor is the existence of a confidence map for the estimations, which comes as a by-product of multi-view models and which can significantly improve the effectiveness of priors by weighting each prediction appropriately. Extensive experiments on standard benchmarks show consistent improvement in reconstruction quality and significant gains in complex scenes including specular objects.

ConFixGS: Learning to Fix Feedforward 3D Gaussian Splatting with Confidence-Aware Diffusion Priors in Driving Scenes

Feedforward 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) often struggles in trajectory-based sparse-view driving scenes. Existing Gaussian repair methods mainly target optimization-based 3DGS, while diffusion-based repair is typically restricted to iterative refinement near observed viewpoints, leaving feedforward 3DGS repair underexplored. We propose ConFixGS, a plug-and-play method that learns to fix feedforward 3DGS with confidence-aware diffusion priors. Starting from a pretrained feedforward model, ConFixGS generates diffusion-enhanced local pseudo-targets and validates them through reprojection-based cross-checking against support views. The resulting dense confidence maps guide refinement, enhancing reliable details while suppressing hallucinated or inconsistent evidence. On Waymo, nuScenes, and KITTI, ConFixGS improves challenging novel view synthesis, with PSNR gains of up to 3.68 dB and FID reduced by nearly half. Our results highlight confidence-aware fusion of generative priors and support-view consistency as a key principle for robust feedforward 3D driving scene reconstruction.
