Abstract

Gaussian splats provide a fast, high-fidelity representation for 3D objects but are often constructed from incomplete input data in practice, leaving missing regions. Existing completion methods either do not preserve the original splats or require scarcely available 3D training data. We propose GSComplete, which combines 3D generation based on Score Distillation Sampling with a novel preservation loss that encourages the original splats to be preserved where they should be visible. This effectively completes the Gaussian splat object using only 2D diffusion priors while fully preserving existing splats and generating new splats only in missing regions, without occluding the input. To evaluate our approach, we introduce a new dataset of partial Gaussian splat objects and show that GSComplete achieves significantly more accurate preservation of the input than existing methods with comparable plausibility of the completed result. Our code and dataset will be made available upon acceptance.

GSCompleter: A Distillation-Free Plugin for Metric-Aware 3D Gaussian Splatting Completion in Seconds

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has revolutionized high-fidelity neural rendering with its explicit representation and efficiency. However, reconstructing scenes from sparse viewpoints suffers from severe geometric voids and floaters due to limited coverage. Current scene completion methods typically rely on an iterative "Repair-then-Distill" paradigm, which is computationally intensive, prone to unstable optimization, and susceptible to overfitting. To address these limitations, we propose GSCompleter, a distillation-free plugin that shifts scene completion to a stable "Generate-then-Register" workflow. Specifically, GSCompleter synthesizes visually plausible 2D reference images and explicitly lifts them into 3D Gaussian primitives with a consistent metric scale via a robust Stereo-Anchor View Selection mechanism. These newly generated primitives are then seamlessly integrated into the global scene using a novel Ray-Constrained Registration strategy. By replacing unstable distillation with rapid geometric registration, GSCompleter exhibits superior 3DGS completion performance across three benchmarks, enhancing both quality and efficiency over various baselines and achieving new state-of-the-art (SOTA) results.

ZipSplat: Fewer Gaussians, Better Splats

Feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting methods reconstruct a scene from posed or pose-free images in a single forward pass, yet current approaches predict one Gaussian per input pixel, tying the representation budget to camera resolution rather than scene complexity. A flat wall and a richly textured object thus produce equally many Gaussians despite very different geometric needs. We propose ZipSplat, a token-based feed-forward model that decouples Gaussian placement from the pixel grid. A multi-view backbone extracts dense visual tokens, and k-means clustering compresses them into a compact set of scene tokens. Cross- and self-attention refine these tokens, and a lightweight MLP decodes each into a group of Gaussians with unconstrained 3D positions. Because clustering is applied at inference, a single trained model spans the quality-efficiency curve without retraining. ZipSplat operates without ground-truth poses or intrinsics, yet sets a new state of the art on DL3DV and RealEstate10K with 6×{\sim}6{\times} fewer Gaussians than pixel-aligned methods, surpassing the best pose-free baseline by 2.1dB and 1.2dB PSNR, respectively. It further generalizes zero-shot to Mip-NeRF360 and ScanNet++, outperforming all comparable baselines. Our project page is at https://veichta.com/zipsplat.

AnchorSplat: Fast and Structure Consistent Detail Synthesis for Gaussian Splatting

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has emerged as a powerful representation for high-fidelity rendering. However, existing assets often suffer from quality bottlenecks such as missing details and texture noise. Prior attempts to enhance these assets via 2D image processing introduce multi-view inconsistencies and high computational costs. In this paper, we propose a novel 3D-native refinement paradigm named AnchorSplat. AnchorSplat is an end-to-end deep network operating directly on 3D structures, avoiding the expensive optimization overhead of traditional 3D-2D-3D pipelines. Crucially, AnchorSplat is a strictly source-free solution requiring no original multi-view images. Central to the proposed method is the Point Anchor Mechanism, which enforces geometric consistency via local offset constraints, mitigating ill-posed mapping and gradient confounding. Furthermore, AnchorSplat replaces iterative densification with a single-pass multiplication mechanism. To facilitate research, we construct 3DGS-SR, the first large-scale benchmark for this task. Experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art results on the 3DGS-SR dataset, with throughput up to 10510^5 times faster than optimization methods. Notably, AnchorSplat exhibits robust zero-shot generalization across diverse data distributions, including generative model outputs and real-world scans.
