UniK: Universal Knowledge Perception for Digital and Physical AI

Authors: Nirmit DesaiKunal SawarkarAditya MahakaliDongkon LeeKevin ParkEric Song

Abstract

Two transformative classes of AI systems are reshaping how organizations operate: \textit{digital AI}, which reasons over enterprise knowledge to power chatbots and agent workflows; and \textit{physical AI}, which learns to control robots and autonomous systems from video, gameplay, and sensor telemetry. Both face the same foundational bottleneck: raw knowledge at scale, spanning heterogeneous modalities, locked in private corpora that existing AI infrastructure cannot access reliably or efficiently. We propose \textit{Universal Knowledge Perception (UniK)} as a common platform for both classes, covering the full knowledge lifecycle (ingestion, enrichment, indexing, retrieval, and continuous evaluation) across modalities from rich text and video to molecular data and sensor telemetry. We present UniK, built on Polymath Retrieval (multi-index fusion over automatically enriched indices) with no task-specific fine-tuning. Across five digital AI domains (medical literature, open-domain QA, chemistry, legal video proceedings, and government open data) UniK combined with an open-source 70-billion-parameter model consistently matches or outperforms frontier proprietary LLMs that are orders of magnitude larger: 76% RAG accuracy on government data versus 47% for GPT-5; 77.9% on medical QA without fine-tuning; topping all open-source chemistry pipelines. We show that the same infrastructure directly addresses the data curation, indexing, and retrieval challenges facing physical AI world model training, where the knowledge problem is harder but structurally identical.

Kairos: A Scalable Serving System for Physical AI

Physical AI is experiencing rapid growth with frontier foundation models increasing its capabilities across general environments. Physical AI tasks are characterized by inference properties that are markedly different from digital AI. They consist of multiple rounds of inference and action execution, generating a chunk of actions in each inference round, and asynchronously interleaving inference and execution. This makes existing digital AI serving systems unsuited for physical AI; a shortcoming that is critical for enabling their wide adoption, considering their size and the scale of the robot fleets they have to serve. To fill this gap, we design Kairos, the first multi-robot serving system that makes the generate-execute loop a first-class citizen, with active involvement in the execution phase. Across a wide range of physical AI models and robots, Kairos reduces the average end-to-end task latency by 31.8--66.5% over state-of-the-art digital AI serving practices, with gains scaling with the robot fleet size.

Cosmos 3: Omnimodal World Models for Physical AI

We introduce Cosmos 3, a family of omnimodal world models designed to jointly process and generate language, image, video, audio, and action sequences within a unified mixture-of-transformers architecture. By supporting highly flexible input-output configurations, Cosmos 3 seamlessly unifies critical modalities for Physical AI -- effectively subsuming vision-language models, video generators, world simulators, and world-action models into a single framework. Our evaluation demonstrates that Cosmos 3 establishes a new state-of-the-art across a diverse suite of understanding and generation tasks, demonstrating omnimodal world models as scalable, general-purpose backbones for embodied agents. Our post-trained Cosmos 3 models were ranked as the best open-source Text-to-Image and Image-to-Video models by Artificial Analysis, and the best policy model by RoboArena at the time the technical report was written. To accelerate open research and deployment in Physical AI, we make our code, model checkpoints, curated synthetic datasets, and evaluation benchmark available under the Linux Foundation's OpenMDW-1.1 License at https://github.com/nvidia/cosmos and https://huggingface.co/collections/nvidia/cosmos3. The project website is available at https://research.nvidia.com/labs/cosmos-lab/cosmos3.

An End-to-End Ukrainian RAG for Local Deployment. Optimized Hybrid Search and Lightweight Generation

This paper presents a highly efficient Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system built specifically for Ukrainian document question answering, which achieved 2nd place in the UNLP 2026 Shared Task. Our solution features a custom two-stage search pipeline that retrieves relevant document pages, paired with a specialized Ukrainian language model fine-tuned on synthetic data to generate accurate, grounded answers. Finally, we compress the model for lightweight deployment. Evaluated under strict computational limits, our architecture demonstrates that high-quality, verifiable AI question answering can be achieved locally on resource-constrained hardware without sacrificing accuracy.
