Abstract

Vector polygon generation converts visual inputs, e.g., remote sensing (RS) images, into vectorized polygonal geometries, supporting applications such as autonomous driving, vector map construction, and remote sensing. Early pipelines predict raster masks and post-process them into polygons, which prevents end-to-end optimization and may miss small objects or introduce inaccurate vertices. Recent methods directly generate vector polygons, but most focus on simple exterior contours, while they either cannot represent complex polygons with holes or fail to preserve their topology. In this paper, we propose PolyTopoBench, a unified evaluation framework for vector polygon generation from RS images with explicit emphasis on complex polygons. PolyTopoBench evaluates both exterior and interior rings, and benchmarks 11 representative methods, including segmentation-based polygonization pipelines, vision foundation model baselines, and specialized vector polygon generators, on two RS-image datasets covering buildings, roads, vegetation, and unvegetated regions. Experiments show that existing methods often recover simple exterior boundaries but degrade substantially on polygons with holes or multiple rings. These results reveal complex polygon generation as an unresolved challenge and motivate topology-aware benchmarks and model designs. ACPV-Net: All-Class Polygonal Vectorization for Seamless Vector Map Generation from Aerial Imagery

We tackle the problem of generating a complete vector map representation from aerial imagery in a single run: producing polygons for all land-cover classes with shared boundaries and without gaps or overlaps. Existing polygonization methods are typically class-specific; extending them to multiple classes via per-class runs commonly leads to topological inconsistencies, such as duplicated edges, gaps, and overlaps. We formalize this new task as All-Class Polygonal Vectorization (ACPV) and release the first public benchmark, Deventer-512, with standardized metrics jointly evaluating semantic fidelity, geometric accuracy, vertex efficiency, per-class topological fidelity and global topological consistency. To realize ACPV, we propose ACPV-Net, a unified framework introducing a novel Semantically Supervised Conditioning (SSC) mechanism coupling semantic perception with geometric primitive generation, along with a topological reconstruction that enforces shared-edge consistency by design. While enforcing such strict topological constraints, ACPV-Net surpasses all class-specific baselines in polygon quality across classes on Deventer-512. It also applies to single-class polygonal vectorization without any architectural modification, achieving the best-reported results on WHU-Building. Data, code, and models will be released at: https://github.com/HeinzJiao/ACPV-Net.

Vector Map as Language: Toward Unified Remote Sensing Vector Mapping

Remote sensing vector mapping aims to generate structured maps of geospatial entities, such as buildings, roads, and water bodies, from remote sensing imagery. In practice, vector maps usually contain multiple category layers and heterogeneous entity structures, requiring a unified model for diverse mapping needs. However, existing methods typically represent vector objects as polygons or graphs, making them suitable only for specific categories: polygons poorly capture topological relations, while graphs often blur instance boundaries. We observe that language, as a natural medium for human communication, offers a flexible and expressive representation that can accommodate heterogeneous map elements, including geometry, semantics, and topolog. Motivated by this insight, we propose Vector Map as Language (VecLang), a unified paradigm that reformulates multiclass vector mapping as structured text generation. VecLang encodes the common elements of different geospatial entities into a GeoJSON-like vector language, enabling cross-category modeling within a shared textual format. To generate this language reliably, we design a progressive vision-language mapping framework that first localizes vectorization units and then generates structured map elements. We further introduce Hierarchical Vector Language Optimization, which uses reinforcement learning to improve syntax validity, content fidelity, and map executability. We also build VecMap-Bench with 54K images and 800K instances, supporting training and evaluation across standard and generalization settings. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VecLang handles both single-class and multiclass vector mapping while achieving strong cross-dataset and open-vocabulary generalization. The model and dataset are publicly available at https://github.com/yyyyll0ss/VecLang.

Topologically Consistent Agricultural Parcel Vectorization with Semantic-Guided Diffusion and Topology-Aware Polygonization

Agricultural parcel polygons play a fundamental role in geospatial applications such as precision agriculture, land administration, and crop monitoring. Beyond regular polygon geometry and low vertex redundancy, practical parcel maps should avoid topological conflicts and preserve common boundaries between adjacent fields. Yet this requirement remains largely unresolved: segmentation-based methods mainly produce parcel masks or raster boundary cues and rely on heuristic raster-to-vector conversion, instance- and contour-based methods reconstruct parcels independently, and recent vector-oriented methods improve polygon regularity but do not explicitly recover adjacent parcels from a shared topological structure. To address this gap, we propose a semantic-guided diffusion framework for topologically consistent agricultural parcel vectorization. It couples joint edge--vertex latent diffusion with supervised multi-cue conditioning to generate geometrically regularised parcel-boundary and vertex primitives while suppressing false-positive responses. A topology-aware parcel polygon reconstruction method then converts these primitives into regular polygons by reconstructing parcel faces from a common planar graph, enabling adjacent predicted parcels to reuse shared boundaries and avoid mutual interior intrusion. Extensive experiments on the AI4SmallFarms and iFLYTEK datasets evaluate parcel vectorization in terms of pixel-level coverage, geometric fidelity, object-level correctness, and topological consistency. The results show strong and competitive performance, with zero measured intrusion ratio and the highest shared-edge recall, demonstrating the potential of the proposed framework for accurate, regular, and topologically consistent agricultural parcel vectorization.
