Abstract

Dense correspondence matching has historically been bounded by simplifying spatio-temporal priors, such as smooth motion and rigid geometry. While effective for classical tasks, these assumptions break down in image editing and reference-guided generation (IEG), where transformations can preserve visual identity while breaking physical continuity. To establish identity-preserving correspondence across such transformations, we introduce FreeMatching, a generalizable framework combining generative and semantic foundation representations with heterogeneous supervision from classical datasets, tracked videos, and synthetic scenes. Teacher-guided iterative refinement further improves correspondence in IEG without dense correspondence annotations. Experimentally, a single FreeMatching model substantially improves correspondence quality on challenging IEG image pairs while retaining competitive performance on classical benchmarks. Furthermore, we demonstrate its utility as a quantitative metric for evaluating identity preservation, with scores that correlate with human judgment. SAMatcher: Co-Visibility Modeling with Segment Anything for Robust Feature Matching

Reliable correspondence estimation is a fundamental problem in image processing, underpinning applications such as Structure from Motion, visual localization, and image registration. Existing learning-based methods have significantly improved local feature representations, yet most still operate at the pixel or patch level and lack explicit modeling of regions that are jointly visible across views. We propose SAMatcher, a feature matching framework that formulates correspondence estimation through co-visibility modeling. Instead of directly matching local features, SAMatcher first predicts co-visible region masks and bounding boxes as structured priors for correspondence estimation. Built upon the Segment Anything Model (SAM), it introduces a symmetric cross-view interaction mechanism that enables bidirectional feature exchange and cross-view semantic alignment. We further develop a unified supervision scheme that jointly optimizes mask prediction and box localization through mask learning, box regression, and mask-box consistency constraints. Extensive experiments on challenging benchmarks demonstrate substantial improvements over existing matching pipelines, particularly under large viewpoint and scale variations. Our results show that foundation models originally designed for monocular segmentation can be effectively extended to multi-view correspondence reasoning through explicit co-visibility modeling, offering a new perspective on structured representation learning for image matching. MARCO: Navigating the Unseen Space of Semantic Correspondence

Recent advances in semantic correspondence rely on dual-encoder architectures, combining DINOv2 with diffusion backbones. While accurate, these billion-parameter models generalize poorly beyond training keypoints, revealing a gap between benchmark performance and real-world usability, where queried points rarely match those seen during training. Building upon DINOv2, we introduce MARCO, a unified model for generalizable correspondence driven by a novel training framework that enhances both fine-grained localization and semantic generalization. By coupling a coarse-to-fine objective that refines spatial precision with a self-distillation framework, which expands sparse supervision beyond annotated regions, our approach transforms a handful of keypoints into dense, semantically coherent correspondences. MARCO sets a new state of the art on SPair-71k, AP-10K, and PF-PASCAL, with gains that amplify at fine-grained localization thresholds (+8.9 [email protected]), strongest generalization to unseen keypoints (+5.1, SPair-U) and categories (+4.7, MP-100), while remaining 3x smaller and 10x faster than diffusion-based approaches. FAST: Flow Any Scene Transformer

Scaling has become a primary driver of progress in language and vision foundation models, yet its role in precise correspondence matching remains underexplored. In this work, we present Flow Any Scene Transformer (FAST), a scalable correspondence model driven by two key insights. First, we reveal that the query-key projections inside single-view vision foundation models encode a coarse yet reusable prior for cross-view matching. Second, reusing these pretrained projections in cross-attention form yields a highly effective initialization for a ViT-based matcher built from a single-view encoder. Guided by these insights, we build FAST upon a vanilla single-view foundation model, utilizing a zero-parameter rewiring strategy to convert selected self-attention layers into cross-attention for cross-view interaction. This design allows ViT-based matchers to scale with advances in single-view foundation models, bypassing the need for a dedicated pair-centric pretraining stage. To fully unlock the scaling potential of this formulation, we assemble a 6-million-pair training corpus for general-purpose dense 2D displacement estimation across diverse co-visible image pairs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FAST achieves state-of-the-art performance across a wide range of benchmarks, while scaling favorably with both backbone size and training data.
