Semantic Correspondence
Overview
Semantic correspondence studies how to identify the same meaningful points or parts across different images or 3D shapes, even when objects look different, move, or deform. Methods use pretrained vision features from models such as DINO and diffusion networks, often combined with keypoint supervision, language-guided parts, 3D geometry, optimal transport, or coarse-to-fine matching. Performance is commonly evaluated on visual benchmarks such as SPair-71k, PF-PASCAL, and AP-10K, and on shape correspondence tasks using measures such as keypoint accuracy and geodesic error. Foundation features have made strong matching possible with less annotation, but precise localization, transfer to unseen categories, and globally coherent matches remain difficult.
