Abstract

Generating LiDAR point clouds from multi-view camera images is a valuable task with applications in controllable data synthesis, cross-modal simulation and various perception tasks. However, most existing methods are not specifically designed for this task, and the quality of their generated LiDAR remains limited. Moreover, these methods typically focus only on semantic cues in images or generate LiDAR from a monocular camera image. In this work, we introduce LiFi (LiDAR From images), a dedicated framework for generating visually and geometrically aligned LiDAR scenes from multi-view camera images. LiFi guides the latent diffusion process through two complementary branches: geometry and semantics. The geometry branch constructs scene features from images through a reverse sampling algorithm and an uncertainty-aware geometric encoder combined with DepthAnything3, whereas the semantic branch provides high-level semantic representations via a cross-view interaction module. We further introduce a dual-branch balanced classifier-free guidance (CFG) strategy, which enhances the model's conditional generation capability while preserving the independent learning and collaborative controllability of the two branches. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LiFi outperforms state-of-the-art methods in generating high-fidelity LiDAR scenes. The code will be publicly available at: https://github.com/szzhou88/LiFi.

M3GD: Multi-Modal Multi-View Geometric Diffusion for Camera--LiDAR Novel View Synthesis

Robotic novel view synthesis (NVS) must recover both visual appearance and metric 3D structure, yet most generative NVS methods rely only on images, overlooking LiDAR, a complementary sensor common on robotic platforms. We present M3GD, a Camera--LiDAR multimodal representation for generative NVS that composes independently pretrained 2D image and 3D point-cloud foundation models without separately pretraining a cross-modal translator. We show that, after camera projection, frozen LiDAR and image features exhibit substantial shared spatial structure, providing a natural cross-modal representation. M3GD conditions generation on LiDAR through this structure: it combines explicit geometry statistics with learned point-cloud descriptors into view-aligned packets on the image-latent grid, injected through a lightweight residual adapter into a multi-view flow-matching generator whose latent space, decoders, and training objective remain intact. On the GrandTour dataset, M3GD improves target-view RGB and depth synthesis over an image-only version of the same backbone. Ablations show that the gains come from pixel-aligned LiDAR content and that target-view LiDAR acts as a geometric query linking the requested view to source observations. Deployment on a ground robot demonstrates practical real-world operation, with a configurable quality--cost trade-off controlled by the number of Euler integration steps.

OmniLiDAR: A Unified Diffusion Framework for Multi-Domain 3D LiDAR Generation

LiDAR scene generation is increasingly important for scalable simulation and synthetic data creation, especially under diverse sensing conditions that are costly to capture at scale. Typically, diffusion-based LiDAR generators are developed under single-domain settings, requiring separate models for different datasets or sensing conditions and hindering unified, controllable synthesis under heterogeneous distribution shifts. To this end, we present OmniLiDAR, a unified text-conditioned diffusion framework that generates LiDAR scans in a shared range-image representation across eight representative domains spanning three shift types: adverse weather, sensor-configuration changes (e.g., reduced beams), and cross-platform acquisition (vehicle, drone, and quadruped). To enable training a single model over heterogeneous domains without isolating optimization by domain, we introduce a Cross-Domain Training Strategy (CDTS) that mixes domains within each mini-batch and leverages conditioning to steer generation. We further propose Cross-Domain Feature Modeling (CDFM), which captures directional dependencies along azimuth and elevation axes to reflect the anisotropic scanning structure of range images, and Domain-Adaptive Feature Scaling (DAFS) as a lightweight modulation to account for structured domain-dependent feature shifts during denoising. In the absence of a public consolidated benchmark, we construct an 8-domain dataset by combining real-world scans with physically based weather simulation and systematic beam reduction while following official splits. Extensive experiments demonstrate strong generation fidelity and consistent gains in downstream use cases, including generative data augmentation for LiDAR semantic segmentation and 3D object detection, as well as robustness evaluation under corruptions, with consistent benefits in limited-label regimes.

T2LDM++: A Self-Conditioned Representation Guided Diffusion Model for Realistic Text-to-LiDAR Scene Generation

Recent progress in Text-to-Image generation benefits from large-scale Text-Image pairs. However, the scarcity of Text-LiDAR pairs often causes over-smoothed scenes and limited controllability. In this paper, we rethink the limitations of Text-LiDAR generation task, focusing on alleviating insufficient training priors and constructing controllable Text-LiDAR data. We propose a Text-to-LiDAR Diffusion Model for LiDAR scene generation, T2LDM++, with a Self-Conditioned Representation Guidance (SCRG). Specifically, to alleviate object over-smoothing, SCRG employs a Guidance Network (GN) to provide reconstruction-based soft supervision to the Denoising Network (DN). This enables DN to learn geometry-aware representations through reconstruction guidance, leading to more accurate denoising in DDPMs. Meanwhile, through analysis and design, SCRG exhibits more effective and lightweight, while decoupled in inference, avoiding computational overhead. Furthermore, we construct two high-quality Text-LiDAR benchmarks (>>100K samples) using a generalized strategy of geometric annotations, along with a controllability metric. Moreover, a directional position prior is designed to mitigate street distortion, further improving scene fidelity. Additionally, T2LDM++ supports multiple conditions, including (Semantic, Box, BEV, Camera)-to-LiDAR, Sparse-to-Dense, and Dense-to-Sparse generation, by learning a control encoder via frozen DN. With effective prior modeling and high-quality Text-LiDAR benchmarks, T2LDM++ can generate realistic LiDAR scenes with rich geometric details in unconditional and conditional settings.
