Catheter Ablation

Catheter ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat life-threatening heart rhythm disorders like atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia by precisely destroying abnormal heart tissue. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of ablation, including the development of robotic catheter systems with enhanced dexterity and precision, often guided by advanced imaging techniques like MRI. Furthermore, deep learning algorithms, such as recurrent convolutional neural networks and other CNN architectures, are being employed to non-invasively localize the arrhythmia source from ECG data, potentially streamlining the procedure and improving patient outcomes. These advancements aim to reduce procedure time, improve accuracy, and minimize risks associated with this critical cardiac intervention.
