Chord Formation
Chord formation, a fundamental aspect of music theory, is being investigated through computational approaches to understand and generate musical progressions. Current research employs diverse methods, including coupled hidden Markov models for automated annotation of musical corpora, statistical analysis of chord diagrams to improve guitar tablature suggestions, and novel algorithms to enumerate and generate chord progressions based on music theory rules. This work enhances our understanding of musical structure, improves tools for music creation and analysis, and explores connections between music theory and other fields like quantum computing and neural networks.
