Chronic Pain
Chronic pain research aims to understand and alleviate the debilitating effects of persistent pain, focusing on improving diagnosis, treatment, and patient quality of life. Current research employs machine learning models, including spiking neural networks and reinforcement learning algorithms, to analyze biosignals (e.g., EEG, EMG) and patient narratives for improved pain detection and personalized treatment recommendations. This work also addresses critical issues like algorithmic bias in personalized care and the development of more accurate and sensitive pain assessment tools, ultimately aiming to optimize pain management strategies and reduce the significant burden of chronic pain on individuals and healthcare systems.
