Counterfactual Prompting
Counterfactual prompting is a technique used to improve the reasoning and bias mitigation capabilities of large language models (LLMs) by presenting them with hypothetical scenarios that deviate from the factual input. Current research focuses on developing and evaluating prompting methods, such as those incorporating chain-of-thought reasoning, to reduce reliance on statistical biases in LLMs and enhance their ability to perform tasks requiring causal understanding. This approach is significant because it addresses limitations in current LLMs, leading to more robust and reliable performance across various applications, including improved explainability and fairness in AI systems.
