Covert Communication
Covert communication research focuses on securely transmitting hidden information within seemingly innocuous data streams, aiming to enhance privacy and security. Current efforts explore various techniques, including steganography using generative models like GANs and LLMs to embed messages in text, images, and even the training processes of distributed machine learning models, as well as leveraging differential privacy and cryptographic methods for enhanced security. These advancements have implications for secure communication in diverse settings, ranging from protecting sensitive data in federated learning to developing robust anti-steganalysis techniques and improving the security of online platforms.
