COVID 19 Infodemic
The COVID-19 infodemic, characterized by the rapid spread of both accurate and inaccurate information online, poses a significant threat to public health. Current research focuses on developing and improving methods for early detection of misinformation, often employing machine learning models and deep neural networks across multiple data modalities (text, images, video) to analyze social media and news sources. These efforts aim to enhance the ability to distinguish reliable information from falsehoods, ultimately improving public health responses during pandemics and other crises by mitigating the harmful effects of misinformation.
