Dialogic Teaching
Dialogic teaching leverages conversational AI, primarily large language models (LLMs), to create interactive and personalized learning experiences. Current research focuses on improving LLMs' ability to adapt teaching difficulty to student levels, using novel prompt-based metrics and diverse datasets derived from real-world conversations. This approach aims to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes by simulating human tutoring styles, including scaffolding and Socratic questioning, but ongoing work assesses the effectiveness of these AI tutors compared to human instructors, particularly regarding knowledge application and transfer.
