Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is benefiting from significant advancements driven by the integration of robotics, computer vision, and haptic feedback technologies. Current research focuses on improving surgical precision and visualization through real-time intraoperative 3D model updates using endoscopic video and developing more realistic haptic training simulators employing model predictive control and advanced loss functions like FESS Loss for improved image segmentation. These improvements aim to enhance surgical accuracy, reduce invasiveness, and provide more effective training for surgeons, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
