Intravascular Ultrasound
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is a medical imaging technique providing high-resolution cross-sectional images of blood vessels, primarily used to diagnose and guide treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Current research focuses on improving image analysis through advanced machine learning techniques, including deep learning architectures like UNets and novel hybrid networks combining shallow and deep features, to achieve more accurate and real-time segmentation of vessel structures (e.g., lumen, plaque). These improvements aim to enhance the precision of diagnoses, optimize treatment planning (e.g., stent sizing), and enable more objective assessment of treatment outcomes, ultimately leading to better patient care.
