Metaphor Generation

Metaphor generation research focuses on computationally creating and analyzing metaphorical language, aiming to understand and replicate this complex human cognitive ability. Current efforts involve developing machine learning models, often leveraging large annotated corpora of metaphorical sentences, to generate metaphors from specified components (tenor, vehicle, ground) or to paraphrase literal text metaphorically. These models are evaluated based on fluency, creativity, and adherence to metaphorical structure, with multitask learning and self-training techniques addressing data scarcity issues.
