Nano Drone

Nano-drones, miniature unmanned aerial vehicles typically under 10cm in diameter, are a burgeoning research area focused on enabling autonomous flight with severely limited onboard resources. Current research emphasizes developing ultra-low-power, lightweight deep learning models (often convolutional neural networks or fully convolutional networks) for tasks like navigation, obstacle avoidance (using sensors such as cameras, ultrasound, and time-of-flight), and multi-drone coordination, often incorporating self-supervised learning and sensor fusion techniques. These advancements are significant because they pave the way for affordable, safe, and versatile nano-drone applications in diverse fields, such as search and rescue, inspection, and human-robot interaction.
