Process Design

Process design, encompassing the creation and optimization of efficient and effective processes across various domains, is undergoing a transformation driven by artificial intelligence. Current research focuses on leveraging machine learning, particularly deep reinforcement learning and transformer-based models, to automate tasks like materials selection, process flowsheet generation, and control structure prediction, often using data augmentation techniques to address data scarcity. This work aims to accelerate design cycles, improve process efficiency, and reduce reliance on time-consuming manual processes, impacting fields ranging from chemical engineering and materials science to hardware design and business process management.
