Social Gaze
Social gaze, the study of how people direct their gaze in social interactions, is a key area of research aiming to understand the role of eye contact and visual attention in communication and social behavior. Current research focuses on developing computational models, often employing transformer-based architectures, to analyze and predict social gaze patterns from video data, including in multi-person scenarios. This work is improving our understanding of atypical social gaze in conditions like autism spectrum disorder and has implications for enhancing human-robot interaction, particularly in educational settings, by enabling robots to better interpret and respond to human social cues.
