UGV Navigation
Uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) navigation research focuses on enabling autonomous operation in challenging environments, particularly off-road and GPS-denied areas. Current efforts concentrate on developing robust planning frameworks that integrate risk assessment and incorporate diverse sensor data, including LiDAR and cameras, often using techniques like A* search algorithms and deep learning for perception and traversability estimation. These advancements are crucial for improving the safety and efficiency of UGVs in various applications, such as agriculture, construction, and search and rescue, by enabling reliable autonomous operation in complex and unpredictable settings.
