Overview

Human-AI co-creation explores how people and AI can work together on creative and knowledge tasks, from writing, visual design, and music to education and scientific discovery. Common approaches include iterative prompting, mixed-initiative workflows, multi-agent systems, and shared visual or physical workspaces that let people guide, edit, and evaluate AI contributions. Researchers study these systems through controlled experiments, field deployments, and measures of artifact quality, diversity, user control, and ownership. A central tension is that AI can make creation faster and broaden exploration while also steering people’s thinking, narrowing collective diversity, and obscuring authorship.
