Human-AI Interaction
Overview
The field examines how people use AI assistants, tutors, agents, robots, and creative tools across settings such as work, education, health, and accessibility. Researchers combine controlled experiments, interviews, longitudinal and in-the-wild analyses, interaction platforms, and benchmarks to study communication, interface design, collaboration, trust, and user agency. Current work explores both how systems can adapt to people and how interaction patterns affect learning, decision-making, relationships, and group behavior. A central tension is that AI can improve immediate task performance while weakening independent skills, calibration, or human connection, making long-term effects and meaningful user control important open questions.
