Generic Camera Calibration using Blurry Images

Abstract

Camera calibration is the foundation of 3D vision. Generic camera calibration can yield more accurate results than parametric cam era calibration. However, calibrating a generic camera model using printed calibration boards requires far more images than parametric calibration, making motion blur practically unavoidable for individual users. As a f irst attempt to address this problem, we draw on geometric constraints and a local parametric illumination model to simultaneously estimate feature locations and spatially varying point spread functions, while re solving the translational ambiguity that need not be considered in con ventional image deblurring tasks. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of our approach.

UniDeblur: Unified Motion Deblurring via Fourier Convolution Learning

Image deblurring is a fundamental task in computer vision, yet existing methods mainly specialize in isolated scenarios. Consequently, the deblurring performance of these models drops significantly across scenarios with different cameras and image contents. This motivates the development of a unified motion deblurring framework that can handle diverse blur patterns. To this end, we construct a multi-source dataset and develop a data pruning and quality control pipeline. Then, to restore blur images with various motion blur kernels across different scenarios, we propose a unified motion deblurring framework via Fourier Convolution Learning. Existing deblurring networks usually rely on pixel-level mappings and overlook the convolutional nature of blur. Thus, the network mostly fits the image content itself rather than learning the convolution process, making it difficult to handle multi-source blur images. Instead of relying on spatial mapping, we perform blur-adaptive global filter learning in Fourier space, which avoids the limited spatial support of kernel estimation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our unified model effectively handles motion blurs across diverse sources and scenes, achieving competitive performance across both in-domain and OOD benchmarks. Controllable blind deblurring with diffusion models

Image acquisition with a camera involves several degradations due to the optical system, sensor, or low-level processing steps. We address blind deblurring in professional photography: we aim to invert unknown isotropic blur without knowledge of the degradation kernel. For such inverse problems, where some high-frequency information is lost, it is challenging to use generative models to produce details that are both photo-realistic and faithful to the input. We propose SuperSharpen, a diffusion-based blind deblurring method offering explicit control over restoration strength through a blur measure. We compare two conditioning strategies: a ControlNet-style adapter on a frozen backbone, and full finetuning of the diffusion prior. Our experiments show that finetuning achieves better fidelity with fewer hallucinated details. We validate our approach on synthetic and real-world blur, demonstrating improved perceptual quality and controllable restoration strength.

Unblur-SLAM: Dense Neural SLAM for Blurry Inputs

We propose Unblur-SLAM, a novel RGB SLAM pipeline for sharp 3D reconstruction from blurred image inputs. In contrast to previous work, our approach is able to handle different types of blur and demonstrates state-of-the-art performance in the presence of both motion blur and defocus blur. Moreover, we adjust the computation effort with the amount of blur in the input image. As a first stage, our method uses a feed-forward image deblurring model for which we propose a suitable training scheme that can improve both tracking and mapping modules. Frames that are successfully deblurred by the feed-forward network obtain refined poses and depth through local-global multi-view optimization and loop closure. Frames that fail the first stage deblurring are directly modeled through the global 3DGS representation and an additional blur network to model multiple blurred sub-frames and simulate the blur formation process in 3D space, thereby learning sharp details and refined sub-frame poses. Experiments on several real-world datasets demonstrate consistent improvements in both pose estimation and sharp reconstruction results of geometry and texture.
