Abstract

Despite strong single-turn performance, diffusion-based image compositing often struggles to preserve coherent spatial relations in pairwise or sequential edits, where subsequent insertions may overwrite previously generated content and disrupt physical consistency. We introduce PICS, a self-supervised composition-by-decomposition paradigm that composes objects in parallel while explicitly modeling the compositional interactions among (fully-/partially-)visible objects and background. At its core, an Interaction Transformer employs mask-guided Mixture-of-Experts to route background, exclusive, and overlap regions to dedicated experts, with an adaptive α-blending strategy that infers a compatibility-aware fusion of overlapping objects while preserving boundary fidelity. To further enhance robustness to geometric variations, we incorporate geometry-aware augmentations covering both out-of-plane and in-plane pose changes of objects. Our method delivers superior pairwise compositing quality and substantially improved stability, with extensive evaluations across virtual try-on, indoor, and street scene settings showing consistent gains over state-of-the-art baselines. Interact3D: Compositional 3D Generation of Interactive Objects

Recent breakthroughs in 3D generation have enabled the synthesis of high-fidelity individual assets. However, generating 3D compositional objects from single images--particularly under occlusions--remains challenging. Existing methods often degrade geometric details in hidden regions and fail to preserve the underlying object-object spatial relationships (OOR). We present a novel framework Interact3D designed to generate physically plausible interacting 3D compositional objects. Our approach first leverages advanced generative priors to curate high-quality individual assets with a unified 3D guidance scene. To physically compose these assets, we then introduce a robust two-stage composition pipeline. Based on the 3D guidance scene, the primary object is anchored through precise global-to-local geometric alignment (registration), while subsequent geometries are integrated using a differentiable Signed Distance Field (SDF)-based optimization that explicitly penalizes geometry intersections. To reduce challenging collisions, we further deploy a closed-loop, agentic refinement strategy. A Vision-Language Model (VLM) autonomously analyzes multi-view renderings of the composed scene, formulates targeted corrective prompts, and guides an image editing module to iteratively self-correct the generation pipeline. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Interact3D successfully produces promising collsion-aware compositions with improved geometric fidelity and consistent spatial relationships.

Depth-to-RGB: Repurposing a Frozen Depth Estimator for Geometry-Guided Compositing

Reference-based object compositing inserts or replaces an object using a background image, a reference image, and a 2D compositing mask. These inputs guide appearance and placement but leave the completed scene's geometry implicit, which can distort object structure or alter the surroundings. Our Depth-to-RGB (D2R) framework predicts composite depth for a scene not yet observed in the RGB inputs. It learns reference-conditioned corrections to a frozen depth estimator using encoder features of paired completed scenes as targets. The unchanged decoder maps the corrected representation to the intended scene's depth, which a separately trained renderer holds fixed during RGB synthesis. Under matched architecture and training, encoder-feature supervision reduces OOD Stage-1 AbsRel by 31.4% relative to decoded-depth supervision. We also introduce AnyInsertion++ with paired in-distribution and category-disjoint splits to evaluate generalization beyond compositing training categories. The complete D2R system leads 12 open-source and 3 closed-source baselines in estimator-derived geometry and photometric quality on both paired splits. On category-disjoint data, D2R reduces AbsRel by 43.7% and improves PSNR by 2.4 dB over the matched RGB baseline. Across three unpaired benchmarks, D2R leads both identity metrics and reduces mean CLIP reference cosine distance by 55% relative to the strongest baseline. Direct 3D-Aware Object Insertion via Decomposed Visual Proxies

Object insertion aims to seamlessly composite a reference object into a specified region of a background image. Recent diffusion-based methods achieve high visual quality but formulate insertion as a simple 2D inpainting task, providing no explicit control over the object's 3D pose and limiting their practical applicability. We propose DIRECT (Decomposed Injection for Reference Composition and Target-integration), a novel framework that integrates interactive pose manipulation with high-fidelity 2D image synthesis to enable pose-controllable object insertion. Our method decomposes the insertion conditions into three complementary components: appearance guidance capturing visual details from the reference object, geometry guidance derived from the user-adjusted 3D proxy, and context guidance from the target background. By injecting them through separate pathways, DIRECT avoids feature entanglement and simultaneously preserves reference appearance, follows the user-specified pose, and adapts the object to the target scene. We also introduce an automated data construction pipeline to improve the diversity and quality of training data. Experiments show that DIRECT outperforms previous methods in both geometric controllability and visual quality.
